Old Faithful

Why does it do this? Water below ground--some 4 MILES below ground is heated by magma (molten rock). As it boils, it tries to rise, but cannot. It must remain in a state of water because it has no space to become steam. The water rises in temperature to twice the boiling point. After a time, the water finally escapes and bursts to the surface.
